The aim of this project is to raise AIDS awareness by distributing 500 condoms and collecting 500 pledges of signatures during a one-day road show held along Orchard Road. We hope that by distributing condoms, it would create a lasting impression upon our target audience (youth of age 16 – 30). We also hope the youths of today will see the importance of taking measures to protect themselves and play their part in helping ‘AIDS disappear’ through a one-day road show.

Road show details

Venue : Cathay Cineleisure

Time : 1200 – 1800

Procedure:

1. Approach the public to explain the idea of the road show and they are brought to the tentage where the exhibits and the ”AIDS” board are. (The “AIDS” board are pasted with condoms in the shape of the word “AIDS”

2. The public are able to view the exhibits of Aids, “10 Myths of AIDS/HIV”, & “HIV and You” made by one of the team members.

3. The public is then encouraged to take down one condom from the board and proceed to make a pledge by signing on the pledge board located next to the “AIDS” board.

4. They are able to make a donation if they want to after listening to the cause of Pledge of Silence campaign done by one of the team members.

5. Brochures, pamphlets and postcards of Aids information are made available to the public.

The road show was a success as Team AID managed to distribute all 500 condoms and gaining more than 500 pledges of signatures.

What does it mean to be alive? What does it mean to live well?

Youth Advolution for Health (YAH), Singapore’s first youth-led health advocacy group, was formed in 2005 by a bunch of curious and like-minded youth. The aim – To empower youths and build their capacity to sow the seeds of living well amongst their peers.

Since then, many youths have walked into the doors of YAH because a facet of our life piqued us into thinking, “Hey, it’s only now that I realise health means enough to me and I am glad it came early. Now, I want to be in a position to bring about this realisation in the lives of my peers.”

As you chance upon this site, you may be one of the youths we want to reach out to. Share our burning ideal of nurturing a generation of passionate youth health advocates and change-makers who will reinvent the way we look at health.

If you hear us and care enough, you’ll probably find a good fit in this growing and dynamic youth group that not only seeks to live well, but also get youths around us to start living well and have FUN doing all of that!

I look forward to having you on board YAH, and making an impact on the lives of other youths with YOU!
